Falls Tracking for Best Practices
IAHSA, ICHA, DIA, and IFMC are conducting a falls program in order to establish best practices for falls prevention and intervention. There are 43 facilities (23 IAHSA members) tracking falls information, reporting, and evaluating on a monthly basis. If you would like to track the your facility’s falls information and compare your results to the group for use in your own CQI process, you may download the form. MedQIC: The Falls Management Program
This interdisciplinary program is designed to assist nursing facilities in improving their fall care processes and outcomes through educational and quality improvement tools.

This toolkit helps nursing home staff reduce the use of restraints.

What You Need to Know about Choice, Falls, & Restraints in Nursing Homes
This handy brochure provides information for persons living in nursing homes and their families about physical restraints. Topics covered include the definition of a restraint, myths about restraints, the risks of restraints, family responsibilities, and options if a relative is in a nursing home. Also included is information about improving safety and mobility for nursing home residents.
