The Iowa State Board of Health approved the new Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) reporting requirement for falls and major injuries. IAHSA has worked hard with DIA and other stakeholders for over a year to reach consensus on what qualifies as a reportable event to DIA. The DIA has responded to a substantial number of concerns in the proposed rule. If the rule moves forward as expected, the rule should be effective September 17, 2008. Providers can get answers to their questions about what qualifies as a reportable event at their own facility by participating in the IAHSA Webinar on September 11, 2008.
